The Tata Institute of Social Sciences was founded in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. It was renamed the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 1944. (Mumbai). Section 3 of the University Grants Commission considers TISS Mumbai to be a university (UGC). TISSNET is a computer-based common entrance test administered by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences to students seeking admission to M.A. programmes at all of its campuses. Students will be shortlisted for stage 2 based on their TISSNET performance. The first step is the shortlisting phase; no reservation requirements apply at this time. TISS Online Assessment (OA) is the second stage of the TISS Mumbai PG admissions screening process. The main aim of stage 2 (OA) is to assess the interest and suitability of a candidate for the programme selected. TISS Online Assessment (OA) is divided into two parts:
online personal interview and extempore discourse on a specific topic (OPI). The aggregate final score is based on the first and second stages of the TISS Mumbai selection procedure. The following are the marks for various components: TISS NET (objective type test): 100 marks; TISS Online Assessment (1. extempore commentary on a specific topic (100 marks); 2. online personal interview (100 marks). TISS publishes the results on its official website, which students can access by providing their login credentials. Following the announcement of the results, TISS publishes the final merit list, followed by the OML (open merit list) for candidates from all categories. TISS Mumbai Postgraduate Admissions Procedure
- For TISS Mumbai admissions, candidates must examine and meet the institution’s qualifying standards.
- To apply for TISS Mumbai PG admissions, eligible applicants must complete the TISS Mumbai application form.

TISS Mumbai’s Centralised Placement Cell (CPC) is in charge of all school placements, with the exception of HR and Public Health. TISS Mumbai Services
The Institute provides a wide range of services to its students. TISS Mumbai’s amenities are tailored to the needs of the students.
