Calicut NIT Facilities

The students at NIT Calicut benefit from having access to suitable facilities like a hostel, library, and other learning resources throughout their time in college. Sports facilities are offered to the students at NIT Calicut so that they can take a break from their regular academic schedule. The NIT Calicut campus has a fleet of buses that it utilises to transport students as conveniently as possible. While the National Institute of Technology, Calicut’s (NIT, Calicut) computing centre handles all computing needs, the campus networking centre offers internet and intranet services to college students, staff, and faculty. All these amenities are available to students. Facilities at NIT Calicut are listed below:

Male Hostel

The college offers good dorm accommodations for the students in its boy’s hostel. The students have access to all the amenities they require, including a table, chair, cabinet, water cooler, etc. Each hostel offers guest rooms for family members and other visitors of the residents. Also offered are computational resources and internet access around-the-clock.

Female Hostel

The facilities at NIT Calicut include separate dorms for female students. The facilities at the girls’ hostel include a women’ gym, a sewing and tailoring shop, a hostel library, a fitness facility, an indoor sports facility, a DTP centre, an ice cream shop, and a cooperative store. Every hostel has a common area with a recreation area with TVs, magazines, newspapers, and equipment for indoor games and sports.

Medical/Hospital

At the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, a health centre is open twenty-four hours a day. It is staffed with qualified medical professionals. Additionally available are a laboratory, an ambulance service, and referrals to local hospitals. There is also a counselling service available.

Gym

The college offers its students a gym. They can go to the gym to work out physically.

Library

In addition, NIT Calicut features a library with a sizable collection of electronic books, print journals, online journals, and subscriptions to numerous magazines and newspapers. The institute has 50 internally routed networks connected by a 21 km fibre optic cable backbone. The institute community’s software and hardware-related issues are also handled by it.

Laboratories

The entire institute’s computing needs are met by NIT Calicut. There are four fully functional terminals there, distributed over three floors. The centre currently has more than 190 client computers and can accommodate up to 400+ machines. Workstations include Fujitsu Celsius W570 power, HP XW4550, and DELL Precision series computers, while desktops include HP Prodesk 600 G2, DELL OPTIPLEX 755 and 7010 series computers. The servers at the centre are DELL PowerEdge T620s with dual Hexa-core processors and HP ProLiant Racks with dual Quad-core processors.

Waiting area/guest room

There is a guest home available for NIT Calicut’s visitors. There are both AC and non-AC rooms available. There is also a complete meeting room there.
