ABOUT

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, was founded in 1999 and received legislative status from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature by an act. The SMVDU campus is set across 470 acres of land in Trikuta Hills, which is also renowned as Maa Vaishno Devi’s home. As a result, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board also approves the formation of SMVDU. The University Grants Commission has recognised SMVDU under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956.

In several fields, the University provides undergraduate (B. Tech. and B. Arch), postgraduate (M. Tech., M.A., M. Sc., and M.B.A), dual degree (integrated), and doctorate (Ph.D) programmes. According to the NIRF Ranking 2021, the university is placed 79th in the engineering category. According to the NIRF Rankings of 2020, it was ranked 78th out of all engineering institutes in India and ranked among the top 100 business schools in the country. Around 136 highly experienced assistant professors are hired to convey information in a variety of specialisations, and students from more than 23 states study and live on the tranquil and secure campus.

The B.Tech degree is available in a variety of specialities, including computer science, electronics and communication, mechanical, biotechnology, energy management, architectural, civil, and electrical engineering. A committee oversees an outsourced, centralised mess in boys and girls dormitories. It also provides kids with healthy and tasty meals. The university is well-connected by roads, railroads, and airways. The airport and railway station are easily accessible. Local transport has been made easier by the availability of minibuses around the clock. A guest house is one of the SMVDU Katra facilities. The university guest house contains 51 rooms and 4 suites with modern amenities such as WiFi, air conditioning, a kitchen, and a dining space.
